MEET THE FACULTY & GUEST ARTISTS

Eugene Kim  Cello

An avid chamber musician and solo recitalist, cellist Eugene Kim has given solo performances throughout Korea, England, Italy and his native United States, including such venues as Carnegie Recital Hall and Jordan Hall. His chamber music collaborations have included Raphael Hillyer, Bayla Keyes, Marcus Thompson, Gervase de Peyer and Mark O'Connor. An active Boston-area performer, he has appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and has been guest principal cell ist with the Boston Classical Orchestra, and the Pro Arte Chamber Ensemble.

Mr. Kim is the former principal cellist of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Concert Orchestra and Harvard Bach Society, and has served as solo cellist under Sergiu Commissiona, James DePreist and Pinchas Zukerman.

In addition to his serving on the faculties of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Longy School of Music, and the New England Conservatory Preparatory Division, Eugene was also a member of the faculties of UMASS/Boston and Brandeis University.

Recently, Mr. Kim completed a term as Artistic Director of Project STEP, a string training program for minority string players. Mr. Kim received his A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors from Harvard University, and a master's degree from New England Conservatory, having studied with Andres Diaz, Colin Carr, Laurence Lesser and Carter Brey.
