Daniel Levitov • Cello
In recent performances, the Baltimore Sun has cited cellist Daniel Levitov for his "warmth of tone and phrasing" and "expressive force." His performances include concerts at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Strathmore Hall’s "Music at the Mansion", and the Peabody Institute of Music. Levitov has performed concerti with the Manhattan Virtuosi, The Peabody Camerata and the Mendocino Festival Orchestra, and premieres several new works each concert season. He recorded the jazz album "Moment to Moment, Roy Hargrove with Strings," which was released on the Verve label. |
He is a frequent substitute with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and regularly performs in the Baltimore Symphony's Chamber Music by Candlelight series. Levitov is a member of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, under the direction of Marin Alsop.
Levitov is currently a faculty member and head of Preparatory Cello at the Peabody Institute. In addition to studio cello, he serves on the preparatory chamber music faculty, conducts the Peabody Young Artist's Orchestra, and teaches minor and secondary cello in the conservatory. Under his directorship, the cello program has increased in size, attracting some of the most advanced young musicians throughout the region. |
