SCHEDULE
Beginning on June 22nd and ending
on August 1st, the typical students’ weekly schedule
includes daily individual practice, two hours of chamber
music rehearsal, 2 weekly chamber music coachings, one
weekly private lesson, and one weekly studio class.
Faculty and guest artists give master classes and workshops
nearly every day. Workshop topics include: Going Beyond
the Notes, Communicating With Your Audience, Performance
Anxiety, How to Practice, and Career Development.
But there are also many unscheduled learning opportunities
– it is not unusual to hear impromptu late-night
reading groups or extra rehearsals. The relaxed, communal
atmosphere means that faculty and students often eat
and socialize together, sharing insight, experience,
and advice.
What sets the Killington Festival apart are the numerous
student performance opportunities, in concerts at Killington,
in the surrounding region, and at master classes. A
small number of exceptional students may be selected
to perform chamber music with faculty on the Saturday
evening faculty-artist series.
STUDENT LIFE
Festival participants include college
and grad students, young professionals, and high school
students. Housing is in a cluster of inns located within
a three-minute walk of each other.
The
inns, which are part of the greater Killington resort
area, feature swimming pools and other facilities.
While the practice and study schedule is rigorous,
the Festival staff also organizes a wide variety
of recreational activities, including hikes, informal
team sports, shopping trips, and movie outings.
Unfortunately not all students can be guaranteed
a roommate. If you have a roommate preference, be
sure to state this on your application. |
