Recognised as one of the most promising double bassists of his time, Marc André brings a completely new approach to his instrument by exploring soloistic capabilities.
Marc André pushes boundaries with his exceptional talent. The french double bassist is the first recipient of the new ICMA Classeek Award, established in collaboration between the International Classical Music Awards ICMA and young artist platform Classeek. Marc André has been presented with the ICMA Classeek Award in April 2023, where he performed with the NFM Philharmonic alongside their music director Giancarlo Guerrero, in Wrocław at the ICMA Gala Concert.
In March 2024, Marc André made his debut together with the world-renowned pianist Simon Ghraichy at the prestigious Salle Gaveau in Paris. In 2022/2023 M.A was invited to make his debut as soloist with the “Orchestre Symphonique Région Centre-Val de Loire/Tours” under the baton of Alexandra Cravero at the “Grand Théâtre de Tours.“ Another highlight of the season included his solo debut in the golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein.
At just 19, he won the prestigious Swiss competition “Rahn Musikpreis,” the Anton Bruckner First prize from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf Competition in Slovakia and the Angelika-Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has played in a series of concerts with the French cellist Gautier Capuçon as part of his program “un été en France.”
Marc André plays a double bass made by Martin Stoß, Vienna, 1827, which is kindly provided to him by a private sponsor from Austria.
