Currently living in Oklahoma City, Ty Myers performs with the Painted Sky Opera Company and as Concertmaster of the Enid Symphony. He has previously performed with the Tulsa Symphony, Principal Second violin of the Fort Smith Symphony, and acting Assistant Concertmaster of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.
Ty’s passion for teaching stems from an objective approach based on ergonomics and relatable concepts. His students have won of the Oklahoma Solo and Chamber Music Competitions, the Des Moines Youth Symphony Concertmaster audition, and the Iowa State Fiddle Competition.
Previously, Ty was the Orchestra Director and violin faculty at Central College, and he has been on the faculty at Drake University, Oklahoma Baptist University, and the University of Arkansas Summer Music Festival. He was also a Graduate Assistant at the University of Oklahoma.
Ty has studied with Felicia Moye, Diane Pascal, and Lucie Robert; his masterclasses performances include Pinchas Zukerman, the Emerson String Quartet, Brian Lewis, Kevork Mardirossian, Gregory Fulkerson, and Chee Yun. He holds a D.M.A from the University of Oklahoma where his dissertation title is Guidelines for Violin Fingerings based on Editions of Ivan Galamian and Carl Flesch. Ty also enjoys working as data analyst and software developer.
